Commission an icon
A patron saint for a baptism, a guardian angel for a godchild, the Holy Family for a marriage. Each icon is written by hand, for one person, over several weeks.
How it works
Tell me about the occasion, the person the icon is for, and the saint or subject you have in mind. If you are unsure, we can look for it together.
We choose the model, the size of the panel and the gilding. I then send you a proposal with the price and the expected date.
The panel is prepared, drawn, gilded and painted layer by layer. Each layer needs time to dry, which is why an icon takes several weeks.
When the icon is finished and varnished, we agree together on how it reaches you.
Prices & lead times
From a small panel for a bedside table to a large icon for a home or a chapel. Arched panels, diptychs and triptychs are also possible.
Each icon is quoted individually, according to its size, the amount of gilding and the complexity of the composition. Ask for a quote; it commits you to nothing.
An icon takes several weeks. For a baptism, a first communion or a wedding, get in touch well in advance so the icon is ready for the day.

Each icon begins with the person it is for. For my goddaughter I chose a modern Greek icon painted after a 14th-century Byzantine model, bright enough to speak to a small child.

Most saints have an established model in the iconographic tradition, and I follow it. For saints less often painted as icons, such as Saint Odile or Saint Hildegard, I compose the icon from the rules of the tradition and what is known of their life.
Yes. An icon is always written after a model. Send me a photo of the icon you love and we'll talk about it. My Holy Family, for example, follows the model of Sister Marie-Paul Farran.
Traditionally, an icon is blessed by a priest before it takes its place for prayer. You can ask your parish priest to bless it once you have received it.
Keep it away from direct sunlight, heating and damp. Dust it gently with a soft, dry brush. Never use water or cleaning products on the painted surface or the gold.
